Sophia is officially on her way to 2 years old. She turned 19 months old last week! She was drawing and I interrupted her to take her picture. She didn't want to cooperate and smile for me, but at least she didn't frown!
We had a holiday open house on Saturday from 4 - 8:30 for some of our friends and neighbors. The timing couldn't have been better. Sophia woke up from her nap minutes before our first guests arrived. I could tell she was having a blast with all the little ones that came with their parents. She was covered in marker by the end of the night - especially her shirt. These are the two girls that she goes to music with each week and we've done a few play dates with them too: Haley (20 months) and Addy (turning 2 in 2 weeks). Sophia is taller and bigger than both of them at 19 months just to give you a comparison.
This little girl is Olivia. Her dad works with Will. She was born within days of Sophia. This was the first time that the girls met and they seemed to hit it off so hopefully we'll be able to set up a play date. I honestly don't know if Sophia's hand is on Olivia in a "nice" way or if she was bopping her for the 20th time. Her grin looks friendly enough...

Sophia has a new found love affair with drawing, coloring, and now painting. You can see her sprawled out on the floor here working her crayon magic. Not only does she love to color on her large floor pads and in her coloring books, she's picked a few favorite walls, toys and books to autograph. Ironically, when she sees one of these crayon marks she points and exclaims "Ohhhh!" as if somebody did something bad.
This morning I had her totally overdressed for music class and her cheeks were rosy by the time we got home. The poor girl was so warm. She kept her hair bow in until the car ride home and then *presto* *magic* it disappeared in the car somewhere and will probably be discovered in 6 months!
Anyone jealous? It was 72 degrees in Virginia Beach yesterday! Almost everyone I saw wore shorts and short-sleeved shirts.
It's only been about 2 months since we were going to the playground on a regular basis and I couldn't help but notice how much more stable and confident Sophia was on the swings and the other equipment. It was almost as if she had no fear. (Her mother is the one that harbors all the fear and sees every single accident waiting to happen!).
Sophia thought it was funny to run around the room naked tonight before going to bed. She saw Will's shoes and decided she had to put them on. She managed a few shuffles in those size 13s and then proceed to pee all over the floor !!

When I finally did get her jammies on for the night she wanted me to take more pictures of her.
We attended Will's holiday work party on Friday night. Our babysitter took this picture of us before we left. Don't you think we both look tired ~ before we even left the house?
Each night after Sophia has her bath she wears her bath robe into my bathroom and I blow dry her hair. Then we always put her pajamas on and either she goes to bed or she gets to come downstairs for a little longer.

Since we don't have our tree up yet I've decided to temporarily hang Sophia's first homemade "spiral snowflake ornament" from the fireplace. Isn't it a beauty??
Sophia and I were on our way to the Contemporary Art Center today for a Family Fest afternoon of holiday craft projects and she simply wouldn't get off the sit and spin to come with me. She was wearing her coat and she was probably really warm, but that certainly didn't deter her one bit.
Sophia's instructions/ways to use the Sit and Spin:
Sophia's craft is resting beside her on the bench. As soon as we get our tree and I have a place to hang it up then I will post a picture of her 3rd art project: "Ringing Colorful spiral snowflakes". Might be worth millions someday....
