Victoria's Birthday Party

It seems like most of little girls that we know have spring and summer birthdays.  Lilly went to Chuck E Cheese a few weeks ago to celebrate Victoria's 4th.  Victoria is in her class at Beach Manor.

Sophia went to a Super Woman birthday party last weekend and the weekend before the both Sophia and Lilly went to Haley and Carlie's joint birthday party at The Bounce House.

This coming weekend we have two more parties and then we'll be celebrating Sophia's on May 12th and then Lilly's on the 26th.  WOW.

Busch Gardens

Will took the day off from work yesterday (with the exception of participating in a 4:00 conference call), and we packed up the car and headed to Williamsburg to Busch Gardens.  The weather was ideal in the mid-sixties.  We all had a super good time.  Lilly, Sophia and I will go back a few times this summer...and I learned yesterday that I can actually take both of them myself.  While Will was on his call, we rode tons of rides as a threesome.  Sophia is brave enough to sit by herself on some of the less threatening rides.

More fun during spring break

On Wednesday after lunch I took the girls to the pool at the rec center.  We had terrible timing with the rec center spring break camp, but let me back up and explain a bit.

Lilly is not confident in the water and doesn't like to even get wet above her waist.  She spends most of the time on the steps or standing beside the pool looking around.

Sophia, on the other hand, is a fish in the water. She needs lessons because she doesn't swim with her face in the water, but she has a mighty doggy paddle though and can certainly hold her own.

Fifteen minutes after we got in the pool and I finally adjusted to the chill, an entire gaggle of kids Sophia's age....I'd say there were about 30 of them!....came running out of the locker room and all jumped into the pool at the same time. Lilly was terrified.  I was annoyed. Sophia happily got lost in the crowd and I saw her jumping and splashing with tons of kids she didn't know and she was having a blast!   She even ran into a friend from the afternoon Kindergarten class at Beach Manor.

Lilly and I eventually got out of the pool, wrapped up in our towels and sat on the side and watched.  Sophia didn't want to leave. After the whole group of kids left I let her stay another 15 minutes before I "forced" her get out.  It was a good thing, I guess, because when we were in the locker room changing into street clothes a group of 15 teenage girls came strolling in for their opportunity to swim.  I can only assume that 15 teenage boys were in the men's locker room ready to take over the pool.

Yesterday we spent the day with Haley and Carlie.  Yesterday was Haley's 6th birthday and today is Carlie's 4th birthday.  Yep, they are one day apart.

We went to a super fun playground at Mt. Trashmore in the morning and then spent at least 2 hours at Chic-fil-A followed by a trip to the mall to ride the carousel.  The girls had a great day.  Here are some really cute pictures.

Children's Museum

After delivering our goodies to the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth yesterday morning, I took the girls to the Children's Museum.  We've been there a few times already and I think we'll wait a long time before we go back.  We did the whole thing in about an hour and then decided to take another trip back through to our favorite displays.  Sophia ran into a friend, Avneet, from her afternoon class.

Here's some pictures from our day.

A good deed

Yesterday Sophia, Lilly and I delivered the Build-a-Bear bears and 38 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the Naval Hospital, specifically the pediatric unit.

Sophia was so proud.

It's Spring Break Week

I'm determined to find something to do (on the cheap) each day with the girls this week.

Yesterday we went to the zoo.  We had an absolute great day.  We didn't leave the house until 10 am so they at least two hours of "play time" before we left.  They were so well behaved the whole day.  Lilly rode in the umbrella stroller, but Sophia walked the whole day.  (Not that she had another choice.)  She didn't complain one bit.

We had a picnic lunch in the back of the van when we got there and then finished it when we returned to the van at the end of our excursion.  They both fell asleep on the way home.  Here are some of my favorite pictures.
