On Wednesday after lunch I took the girls to the pool at the rec center. We had terrible timing with the rec center spring break camp, but let me back up and explain a bit.
Lilly is not confident in the water and doesn't like to even get wet above her waist. She spends most of the time on the steps or standing beside the pool looking around.
Sophia, on the other hand, is a fish in the water. She needs lessons because she doesn't swim with her face in the water, but she has a mighty doggy paddle though and can certainly hold her own.
Fifteen minutes after we got in the pool and I finally adjusted to the chill, an entire gaggle of kids Sophia's age....I'd say there were about 30 of them!....came running out of the locker room and all jumped into the pool at the same time. Lilly was terrified. I was annoyed. Sophia happily got lost in the crowd and I saw her jumping and splashing with tons of kids she didn't know and she was having a blast! She even ran into a friend from the afternoon Kindergarten class at Beach Manor.
Lilly and I eventually got out of the pool, wrapped up in our towels and sat on the side and watched. Sophia didn't want to leave. After the whole group of kids left I let her stay another 15 minutes before I "forced" her get out. It was a good thing, I guess, because when we were in the locker room changing into street clothes a group of 15 teenage girls came strolling in for their opportunity to swim. I can only assume that 15 teenage boys were in the men's locker room ready to take over the pool.
Yesterday we spent the day with Haley and Carlie. Yesterday was Haley's 6th birthday and today is Carlie's 4th birthday. Yep, they are one day apart.
We went to a super fun playground at Mt. Trashmore in the morning and then spent at least 2 hours at Chic-fil-A followed by a trip to the mall to ride the carousel. The girls had a great day. Here are some really cute pictures.
